Lydney can trace its origins back 2,000 years, to the time of the Silurian tribespeople and the Romans. It grew during the Industrial Revolution, the local iron and coal industry providing the work and wealth on which the area was built, Lydney being the outlet for much of the Forest's produce. With a selection of pictures covering the last 130 years and an introductory text giving a concise account of the town's history, the book illustrates well the way things used to be in days gone by.
